Growing the Community

Who are we?

Welcome to Gro-Organic, a multiple award-winning social enterprise.

Based in the West Midlands, our organisation is built from a team of local people who are passionate about creating outstanding green spaces whilst investing in local people and the community. We specialise in the design and building of commercial and domestic landscape gardens, providing a high-calibre service to a range of clients that brings about award-winning transformations to be enjoyed for years to come.

Our school teams are highly trained to develop outstanding outdoor environments, using their creative expertise to build beautiful ponds and wildlife reserves, outdoor classrooms and food growing areas as well as sensory and therapy gardens that restore and calm children with diverse needs. Every member of our team hold an enhanced DBS check and are safeguard trained to Level 3, so you can be assured that the safety and wellbeing of children is in the forefront of our mind.

To reflect our social mission we are constituted as a Community Interest Company (CIC), which means that all of our profits are re-invested into improving the lives of local people through land based projects and outdoor education. When you choose us you are also providing social and economic opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged people living in and around Solihull & Birmingham. For every £1 you spend with us we will turn into £25 worth of social value – now that is a great investment.

What We Do Best

Countless nurseries and schools have benefited from our expertise of utilising the outdoors as a valuable resource. Our award-winning Wellies2Bellies programme provides curriculum linked outdoor education in a series of varied and diverse workshops for school children from EYFS up to KS2. We provide a broad range of opportunities for children to learn about food, healthy living and their environment whilst also developing skills in young enterprise, active citizenship and leading a healthy & sustainable lifestyle.

We are passionate about improving the life chances of people who live in marginalised communities. Our projects are unique as we work in the heart of our communities, transforming bleak and redundant spaces into thriving community assets, edible walkways or gardens. We offer something for everyone, our Urban Street Project engages young people to have an improved responsibility of their local land, working outdoors to improve their educational and future prospects by volunteering, work experience and team building initiatives. Gardening has an array of health benefits and our trained teams care workers to support adults and children with mental health differences and physical disabilities. The Dig It Crew are an established team of locals who use gardening to improve their mental and physical health and wellbeing – a social prescription to an improved & healthier life,
